Definition of Aerodynamics: The study of movement and other gases. Aerodynamics includes the study of the interactions of air with moving objects, such as airplanes, and the effects of moving air on stationary objects, such as buildings.
Or, plain and simple: the science of the motion of gases, liquid (especially air) and their effects on objects.
The word Aerodynamics comes from two Greek words which are Aerios which is concerning the air and Dynamis which means force
Airplanes, kites, hot air balloons, birds, bats and other flying animals are good examples of aerodynamics. They are designed to be aerodynamic and fly into the air. If you want to learn more about how aerodynamics affects biking, bats, hot air balloons, birds or airplanes go to the Aerodynamics Info page!
